My Canadian name is Dylan Whiteduck, my Algonquin name is Tewehigans Waba-Shishib and I am a proud First Nation Algonquin member with the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg (KZA) community.
I graduated from Algonquin College in the Business Management & Entrepreneurship program. Soon after I started Whiteduck Publishing, a business that promoted a monthly newsletter and a National Indigenous Writing contest called Thunderbird Stories.
Throughout the years I developed many traits and skills working with various organizations. These skills included logistics, sales, business development, program coordination, records management, project management, negotiations, proposal developments, community engagement, financial management, budget control, business startup, financial advisory and building new business relations.
As the former Economic Development Officer for Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, I am proud to be a part of the success and achievements in the economic development portfolio especially the MOU signed with Quebec in November of 2017, for the Aboriginal Initiatives Fund (AIF) III that gives our KZA members access to grant monies to support economic, social, and community development.
As Chief of Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg, I act in the best interest for our community members and the community as a whole.
I have a strong desire to promote and develop clean energy projects and more recently, I also have a keen interest in the field of change management to better my community, other First Nation communities and organizations.
I enjoy exercising my First Nations inherent rights of hunting and fishing. I have a keen interest in learning new skills. I am an avid golfer during the summer and enjoy traditional powwows with my wife and daughter.
