We believe that our unique Anishinabe Algonquin way of life must be an important part of the educational program provided to students at all levels.

Science Fairs
Students in grade 4 to Secondary 5 are taught the scientific method and are encouraged to build science projects which they demonstrate and have judged at Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan’s bi-annual Science Fair.
Students who place first in each category are given the opportunity to participate in he Regional Science Fair sponsored by the Quebec Aboriginal Science and Engineering Association. If their project places first at the regional level, they are then selected to go to the National Science Fair.

Cultural Days
Cultural Days are organized to give students at the Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan opportunities to experience the Anishinabe culture, language, and teachings so that they will come to value themselves as the Anishinabe of Kitigan Zibi.
These days bring elders and community members together with our students so that learning can happen in away that is meaningful within our culture. Students learn and share their own knowledge about such things as hunting, trapping, fishing, skinning, preparing food, preparing shelters, taking care of the environment, singing, drumming, dancing, and making the crafts for which our people are known.
Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan Mokasige
Mokasige is the Algonquin immersion half-day program that is offered to Kitigan Zibi Kikinamadinan students from grades 1 – 6. The mission of the Mokasige is to immerse students in the Algonquin language while learning cultural activities and teachings.
Students of different ages work in a family-like setting with older students helping and teaching younger students. Part of the mission of the program is to work with elders gaining insight and cultural knowledge as well as to develop Algonquin language materials for the classroom and community.
